Minga Lily Bio
Minga Lily was raised in Thailand where she was steeped in Thai culture and meditation. There she embarked on an intensive study of yoga, Thai yoga massage and vipassana. She has a degree in Psychology with a concentration in child development and women’s wellness from Yale University. She has been guiding people in their healing process through yoga since 1993. She works and teaches with her partner Shawn Patrick.

Class Description
Our basic program will give you the tools to practice a full 90 minute massage using traditional Thai techniques with demonstrations and lots of hands on practice daily. In this course we will:
- Introduce the basic history, philosophy and culture from which the practice arises.
- Learn the elements of the energetic body through the sen line theory rooted in the yogic nadis and become familiar with a host of marma points.
- Learn the fluid dance of thai massage for effortless transition between postures.
- An Work with the yogic principals of alignment , learning to create a mutually beneficial practice for both practitioner and recipient in every session.
- Practice meditations as they relate to focusing on the healing process in this unique healing system.
The course culminates with a full massage exchange giving and receiving.
* We will begin with the feet and move to the legs, tuning into the energy that flows through the lower body and helping to release blockage.
* Postures that open the joints of the lower legs and hips will follow.
* Moving our partner into the seated position, we can focus on releasing and opening the shoulder girdle.
* From there we will move to the back body again focusing on the opening of the sen and stretches that encourage joint movement.
* Our partner in savasana, we will learn some of the sen of the arms and introduce tuning into the energies of the abdomen.
* Working with the head and face will conclude our instruction and students will be given ample time to practice full their full exchanges.
We will have plenty of illustrated hand outs to demonstrate sequencing.
Thai Massage Description
Thai yoga massage is a dynamic body work therapy based on yoga, ayurveda and traditional medicine from Thailand that can be traced back 2,500 years to the time of the Buddha. In this unique healing system the practitioner guides the recipient through a series of yoga postures while palming and thumbing pressure points and vital lines of the recipient’s musculature. It works by increasing flexibility through movement, relaxing the muscles and nervous system with various pressure techniques as well as balancing the energy system of the body through the use of pressure points known as marma points in yoga and ayurveda.
